Geanne, an attorney and journalist, served as this project’s principal researcher and writer, working in collaboration with Jeff Jarvis, director of the Interactive Journalism Program at CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism; Jan Schaffer, executive director of J-Lab: The Institute of Interactive Journalism; and David Ardia and Sam Bayard, director and assistant director, respectively, of the Citizen Media Law Project at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society. Additional legal expertise provided by Lee Levine, partner, Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz, L.L.P., and Media Law Resource Center Staff Attorneys Maherin Gangat and Eric P. Robinson.

Geanne Perlman Rosenberg, as associate professor at City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism and Baruch College, teaches media law and ethics, news reporting and writing, and other courses. Her law-related articles have appeared in The New York Times, Columbia Journalism Review, The National Law Journal, Editor and Publisher magazine, Investor’s Business Daily and many other publications. She holds a J.D. from Columbia University’s School of Law, where she was an articles editor of the Columbia Business Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar; an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism; and a B.A. in English from Bryn Mawr College. Jeff Jarvis, a national leader in the development of online news, blogging, and other forms of citizen journalism, is the director of the New Media Program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and author of the influential Buzzmachine.com web log, as well as a writer at PrezVid.com.

Jeff is the new-media columnist for The Guardian in London, where he is also a consultant. He served as a consultant to About.com, an online media company owned by The New York Times Company. He was also president of Advance.net, the online arm of Advance Publications, part of the Conde Nast group. He was the creator and founding managing editor of Entertainment Weekly magazine and has worked as a columnist, publisher, editor and developer for a number of publications, including TV Guide, People magazine, and the New York Daily News. His freelance articles have appeared in newspapers and magazines across the country, including The New York Times, the New York Post, The Nation, Rolling Stone, and Money. Jeff holds a B.S.J. from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Duy Linh Tu is a multimedia producer, journalist, and educator who teaches at CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism. Duy designed the original home page and provided the Flash technology for this project. (It has since been archived, here.) He is the co-founder and Creative Director of Resolution Seven, a New York City-based video and DVD production studio. Duy has been an adjunct professor at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism since 2001 and lectures at MediaBistro on podcasting, multimedia journalism and other topics. Duy received his masters degree in journalism from Columbia University.
