This learning module is filled with text and videos that will guide journalists from story idea, through the reporting and distribution process. This approach treats the issues covered as campaigns, not just stand-alone stories. That means wide collaborations, embracing new technologies and taking the journalism out to classrooms and universities to engage the next generation.
Introduction
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting was created with the idea of identifying important untold stories, and getting them out to the broadcast possible public. We’ve learned that achieving real impact entails a lot more than simply reporting and placing your story.
Making your journalism count is a journey, one that starts from the early stages of story selection and that continues throughout the reporting and distribution process. The approach treats the issues covered as campaigns, not just stand-alone stories. That means wide collaborations, the embrace of new technologies, and taking the journalism out to classrooms and universities to engage the next generation.
In this unit we’ll show you how, drawing our examples from Pulitzer Center projects around the world.
