InterviewingA practical guide for citizen journalistsAbout this moduleMeet the writersAngie Chuang Angie Chuang is an assistant professor of journalism at the American University School of Communication in Washington, D.C. She teaches reporting and media history classes, and specializes in race issues in journalism and community reporting. She was a reporter for The Oregonian, The Hartford Courant and the Los Angeles Times for 13 years, and developed a Race and Ethnicity Issues Beat at The Oregonian. Among her more memorable interviews have been: Prince (or the Artist Formerly Know As), a woman in rural Afghanistan a half-day's drive from the nearest paved road, and the dozens of dedicated and passionate citizen journalists whose voices comprise this learning module. Lynne Perri Lynne Perri is a journalist-in-residence at American University's School of Communication, where she teaches news design and graphics, reporting and writing classes. She also created a distance-education course in writing and researching graphics. She is a freelance designer and leads visual workshops; recent clients include washingtonpost.com and the Kaiser Media Fellows. She is a former deputy managing editor for Graphics & Photography at USA TODAY, where she conceptualized illustrations, graphics, maps and photo packages, and also wrote articles and book reviews.
